Willie L. 'Luke' Longshore, 76 of Massillon, passed away on September 17, 2012 in the Denver VA Community Center in Denver, Colorado. Luke was born on November 8, 1935 in Roanoke, Alabama to late Willie and Lillie M. (Potter) Longshore. He moved from Roanoke in 1939 and stayed in Massillon for 69 years. He graduated from Washington High School in 1953 where he played for the Tigers. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Upon returning from his military duties to Massillon he worked at Republic Steel where he retired after30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Blunt) Longshore in 2000, a son, Darren K. Longshore and a brother Jimmy Longshore. Luke is survived by seven children: Marcellus (Jennifer) Longshore, Warren Keith (Ronnilyn) Bell, Tonja Longshore, Tamara Longshore, Bonnie Longshore, Connie (Greg) Woods and Yvonne Longshore. He has two sisters and five brothers: Ruby Copeland, Amos Longshore, Tommy Longshore, Johnny Longshore, Bonnie Longshore, Bobby Longshore and Jeffrey Longshore. There are nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Homegoing Service will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church in Massillon. The Rev. Reginald Hye will preside. His final resting place will be Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home and Saturday from 9 AM until 10:00 AM at the church.
