William R. Carman, Jr., age 64, of Navarre, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness surrounded by his family. Bill was born on March 6, 1949 in Canton, the son of the late William R. Carman, Sr. and Margaret (Winter) Burgess. He participated as a volunteer EMT and Fire fighter at Bethlehem Township Fire Station for 13 years. Bill worked for the Timken Company for 33 years, retiring in 2000. He then worked for the Tuscarawas Valley School System for 5 years. Bill was a member of Bolivar F. & A.M. #330. He was also a member of Shepler Country Chapel. Bill's joy was spending time with his family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his half-brother, and 1 niece and 1 nephew. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Roxanne (Girt) Carman whom he married on June 30, 1972; his children, Melanie (Michael) Warner of Richville and Gerald (Jenn) Carman of Dover; 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Barbara (Robert) Kraus, Richard Carman, James (Jane) Carman, John Carman, Betty (David) Fornash, and Kenneth (Debbie) Carman; 9 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of William's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastor James Simone of Shepler Country Chapel will be Officiating. His final resting place will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Bolivar Lodge #330 will have a Masonic Service at 5:45 p.m. before the calling hours and the Stark Co. Fire Fighters Assoc. will have a service at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be calling hours on Saturday at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. before the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stark / Tuscarawas/ Carroll Co.
