William J. 'Bill' Luckner age 87 of Massillon passed away Thursday August 2, 2007 at Rose Lane Health Center. Bill was born September 29, 1919 in Akron to the late Leo J. & Josephine (Mushrush) Luckner. He was a 1937 graduate of St. John's High School in Canton and attended the Yocum School of Business. He retired in 1981 as a supervisor at the Norfolk & Southern Railroad after 42 years of service. A life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, he was in the choir for 23 years, a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus #554, and was one of the first lectors at Sunday Mass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, infant Simon, and an infant brother. Bill will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy (McMahon) Luckner of the residence, three children and spouses: Suzanne & Roland Simon of Canal Fulton, Gregory Luckner of Kingwood, TX and Brian & Danielle Luckner of La Crescent, MN. There are five grandchildren: Christopher Simon, Adam Simon, Eric Luckner, George Luckner and Henry 'Harry' Luckner, and five great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. His pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call 2-4 PM Sunday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family would appreciate contributions to Stark County Hospice.
