William H. Brechtel

William H. Brechtel age 87, of Canton died Monday morning, surrounded by his loving children. Born September 24, 1927, in Olean, NY to the late George H. and Edna (Williamson) Brechtel. He had been a member of St. Mary's choir for 35 yrs, Knights of Columbus, Amvets, Massillon Lions Club, and Akron Silver League. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1949 after serving in WWII. Dad retired from Republic Steel after 30 yrs of service. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Mary in 1993, his brother George, and wife Kathrine Chable who passed in 2013. He is survived by his daughters Renie (Mike) Buergler, Patty Madden, Teri (Randy) Kuemerle, Peggy (Harold) King, Diane (Dave) Manahan, Vickie (Dan) Jucikas, Posie (Alan) Heuermann, and sons Bill, and Dan, 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Also survived by nephew Tom (Penny) Brechtel, and cousin, Joe Vogt, and many extended family and friends. Dad's greatest love was gatherings with his children and their families, and would always say" It doesn't get any better than this." He also enjoyed softball, golf, snow skiing and bowling well in to his 80"s. A memorial service will be Thursday at Paquelet Funeral Home on Wales Rd at 4pm. The family will receive guests at 3pm.
