William Gordon Robey died on May 16, 2011 in Aultman Hospital after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 6, 1924 in Canton, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Mabel R. Robey; brother, Gerald E. Robey and sister-in-law, Martha Lou Robey. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Austin Robey; children, David (Sancy) Robey of Eustis, Fla., Deborah (Jay) Russell of Medina and Michael (Connie Dumoulin) Robey of Massillon; three grandchildren, Jay (Becky) Robey of Oviedo, Fla., Sara Williamson of Manzanola, Colo., Mandii (Mike) Cramer of Wadsworth; four great-grandchildren, Keelyn and Caleb Robey, Summer and Samantha Williamson; niece, Lindy (Gordon) Janko; and nephews, Dan and Jeff Robey. Gordon graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943, served in the US Army Air Corps, World War II, Pacific Theatre. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1980 after 38 years of service as a letter carrier and as a member of the NALC. After his retirement, he served for 25 years as a volunteer for Westbrook Park UMC Meals on Wheels. He was also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He was an elder and lifetime member of Reedurban Presbyterian Church. He loved, and was loved by, his family and friends and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and especially the summers he spent at the family cottage on Jack Lake in Ontario. He also enjoyed winters with his son David's family on Lake Eustis. At his request, his body was cremated and his ashes will be spread at a place that was very special to him. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m. at Reedurban Presbyterian Church at 1145 Perry Dr. NW, Canton.
