William E. Mobley

William E. Mobley, age 67 of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Aultman Hospital. His death followed a brief illness. He was born on January 25, 1942 in Charleston, WV and was the son of the late John and Marian (Slaughter) Mobley. He was an area resident for most of his life. Bill retired from PPG in Barberton, Ohio. He was an active member of the Massillon Baptist Temple for 35 years. The qualities that best exemplified him were his love for the Lord and devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren. Bill enjoyed traveling with friends and family, Southern Gospel music, fishing and woodworking. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Eric Robert Mobley and his sister, Ella Mae Rawlings both in 1989. Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Austin) Mobley, whom he married on December 22, 1961, his daughter, Sharon (Gary) Baltzly of Massillon, his son, Scott Mobley of North Lawrence, his grandchildren, Jarod Mobley, Jacob Mobley, Zachary Baltzly and numerous adopted grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Massillon Baptist Temple with Rev. Cecil Thayer officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home from 2-4 P.M. and on Monday one hour before the service at the Massillon Baptist Temple. The family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to either the Massillon Baptist Temple Mission Fund or the Dr. Gabrail Cancer Research Center.
