William 'Corky' Pledgure

William ‘Corky’ Pledgure Jr. age 67 of Massillon passed away Sunday March 25, 2007 at Doctors Hospital. Corky was born March 17, 1940 in Massillon to the late William & Leila (Belle) Pledgure, was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and played for the Tigers. He had been employed at Massillon Steel Castings. He was a member & trustee of Asbury Chapel AME in Waynesburg and a member and manager of Elks Lodge #632 in Massillon. In addition to his parents two brothers preceded him in death Richard Belle & Marvin Pledgure. He is survived by wife, Alma (Williams) Pledgure with whom he shared 22 years of marriage. Children: Barbara Ann (Kevin) Andrews, Michelle Pledgure, William Pledgure III, Brandy Pledgure, Raven (Anthony) Bryant, Corkisha Pledgure, LaToya Logan, and two step sons, Jeffrey (Carla) King & Mitchell (Karen) King. Four sisters: Jacqueline Moore, Mylinda Fisher, Gail (Keith) Young, Judy Phillips; two brothers, Melvin (Marie) Pledgure & Douglas (Darlene) Pledgure and a special niece Joyce Phillips. There are 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives. A Celebration of Corky’s Life will be 11 AM Friday at St. Paul’s AME Church in Canton, the eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Mark Williams. Corky’s final resting place will be Oakwood Cemetery in Massillon. Friends may call from 10 AM until the service at the church on Friday. Condolences can be sent to the family at 1114 Pearl S.
