William R. Collier, age 74, of Jackson Twp., passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 24, 2009 at Aultman Hospital. He was born December 2, 1934 in Wadsworth, OH, the son of the late James and Ida (Clark) Collier. Bill was the Chief Roll Designer for Republic Steel/ LTV, retiring in 1986. After retirement, he supplemented his income by playing golf for quarters. Bill was a member of Calvary Chapel, the Sons of Herman, Massillon Elks, and the Elms Country Club. He served on the zoning board of appeals for Jackson Twp., and was a former Jackson Twp. volunteer fireman. Bill was also instrumental in forming the Jackson Twp. little league program. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing golf and bridge. He married Marjorie Hoover August 9, 1952.He is survived by his wife Marge of 57 years, along with their children Barbara Collier, Jim (Kathy) Collier, of Massillon, Pat Collier of Palm Coast, FL, and Sue Collier of Land O’ Lakes, FL; grandson Dan Collier of Edgewater, FL; special companion, his dog Lucie. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 26, 2009, from 9 to 11 A.M. at Calvary Chapel, 8151 Stuhldreher NW, Massillon, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Greg Becker officiating. Memorial donations in Bill’s memory may be given to Calvary Chapel, or the donor’s choice to lend a hand to someone in need. Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
