William C. “Billy” Stone, age 71 of Massillon, passed away Saturday at Aultman Hospital. Billy was born on Dec. 2, 1933 in Dover to the late William and Donna Stone. Billy was a lifelong resident of Massillon. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Billy was very active in many community organizations including: B.P.O.E. #441, F.O.E. #190, Buckeye Club, V.F.W. Post #3124 and the Tiger Booster Club. He was a 1953 Washington high School graduate, where he played football and basketball. He was employed at Ohio Operating Engineers as a heavy machine operator and retired in 1986. Billy had played on softball leagues for many years, and after graduating high school he played semi pro football for the Tiger Town All Stars. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf and cards. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 half-brothers James Jerry and Raymond Hamel Survived by: Loving wife of 8 years of marriage; Beverly A. (Jackovic) Stone of the residence. Daughters and Son-in-laws: Vicki Stone Natalie & Ted Dailey Diana & Glenn Hetrick all of Massillon Step-sister: Virginia Tombow of Massillon Grandchildren: Andrew & Alex Dailey, and Nicole Hetrick Calling hours will be held at the Arnold-Lynch funeral home in Massillon on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with a calling hour one hour prior to the service. The Elks Lodge #441 will have a service on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. Fr. Gretchko will be Officiating the service. Burial will be in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
