William "Bill" A. Day

March 12, 1945 — October 11, 2022

William (Bill) A. Day, age 77 passed away peacefully on October 11, 2022 after a five year battle with cancer. He was born in Childress, Texas on March 12, 1945 to the late Wilford (Bill) K. and Martha Jeanne Day. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1963 and Miami University at Oxford in 1967 where it is rumored he paid for his college tuition through winnings at the poker table. Bill graduated college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in the School of Business. Bill worked in the real estate business for over 50 years, where he was well known and greatly respected for his expertise in land site acquisition, and the development and sale of land for residential purposes. Bill built and developed over 620 condominiums from 1990 - 2014, 450 of which are located right here in Stark County in 8 separate developments. Additionally, Bill was appointed as a member of the Jackson Township Zoning Board in 1990, where he served two separate five year terms until the year 2000. In his spare time, Bill was an avid fisherman and enjoyed frequent fishing trips with friends and family to the Day family cottage located in the Les Cheneaux Islands of the Upper Peninsula in Cedarville Michigan. His call sign to fellow fisherman on the water was "Buckeye Boat", much to the chagrin of his local Michigan fishing buddies. Bill loved to share life with others and was always very kind and eager to help those in need. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his younger sister, Barbara and older brother, David. He is survived by his adoring son, Scott who loved and cared for him deeply, as well as his brother Jeff (Kathy) both of whom live locally in Stark County, two grandchildren, and several nieces and several nephews, most of whom reside in different states. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday November 3, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon Ohio. A public Celebration of Life and a private family burial service will be held at a later date to be provided.

Donations may be made in loving memory of William “Bill” Day to the American Cancer Society.
