Willetta Mae Murray, age 84 of Massillon passed away Friday February 1, 2019 at Amherst Meadows. “Billie” as she was known by her friends and family, was born November 20, 1934 in Steubenville to the late Wilford & Cecelia (Montebello) McDermitt. She attended the Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956. For 32 years she was a Labor and Delivery nurse with Massillon Community Hospital. Billie took great pleasure in camping and taking trips with her family. Everyone will remember her love of making spaghetti from scratch and sharing it with all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband J. Brian Murray, a son Timothy Murray, grandson Brian Murray, a sister Ann Littrell and a brother Wilford “Sonny’ McDermitt. Billie is survived by three children: Terrance (Susan) Murray, Craig (Carol Powers) Murray , Kevin (Cindy) Murray, and her daughter-in-law Deborah Finney, whose husband Timothy is deceased. Billie is also survived by seven grandchildren: Nicole (Robbie Brandau III) Murray, Todd (Courtney Locke-Graham) Murray, Cara (Zack) Murray, Jason Murray, Christopher Murray, Scott (Kelley) Nye and Jessica (Matt) Wight. There are nine great grandchildren: Jarred Nye, Jenna Nye, Addison Rey, Vivian Brandau, Archer Kepner, Shane Graham, Kyleigh Murray, Celia Graham and Vincenzo Murray. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, her pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family would appreciate contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research.
