Wayne Douglas Brunker

Wayne D. Brunker, age 70, passed away on April 10, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Massillon on March 30, 1945, to the late Ernest Brunker and Ethel (Hintz) Thomas. Wayne was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School. He married Patricia Carlton on February 17, 1968 and they shared 47 years together until his passing. Wayne served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Wayne worked as a driver for RC Cola and retired from Metro Transit in Akron. He was involved as a coach with Lake Youth Football, Baseball, and Softball. He was a Massillon Tigers season ticket holder for 46 years. He loved gardening and working in his yard, winters walking the white sands of Orange Beach, Alabama, and spending time with his granddaughters to whom he was known as Poppy. He will forever be remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law, and Friend. Wayne is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Douglas (Emily) Brunker and Michelle Brunker; his granddaughters, Kortney and Kaitlin Brunker; his sisters, Evelyn (Don) Beihl and Cheryl Brunker and a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Brunker and Terry Thomas. A Celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Paquelet Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday April 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Donations in Wayne's memory can be made to Crossroads Hospice in Green or Haven of Rest in Akron. The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Colin Moorehead, Dr. Ralph Trochelman, Emily from Summa Home Care, Crossroads Hospice family and the "Jamestown Gang' - The Dawson's, Cook's Bassak's, Mokler's and Tim Marshall for all their love and support of Wayne and his family during Wayne's Illness.
