Wavalene May Steffen, 100, of Massillon, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. Wavalene was born on May 1, 1917 in Mt. Eaton, Ohio the daughter of Milo Charles and Pearl (Baderscher) Villard. She was a 1935 graduate of Washington High School. Wavalene was a member of the Whipple Heights Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canton, where she taught preschool for many years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Steffen in 2015; son, Roger Kent; brothers, LaVerne and Kenneth Villard; and sisters, Evelyn Buncher and Violet Brenneman. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela (Stephen) Armstrong of Longview, TX; grandchildren, Jenelle (Jeff) Piepmeier and Joel (Courtney) Armstrong; great grandchildren, Reagan, Mallory, Preston Armstrong, and Sophia, Robert, and Ella Piepmeier. A Service to celebrate Wavalene’s life will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home: 1100 Wales Road N.E., Massillon, Ohio 44646. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to Beulah Beach: 6101 W. Lake Road, Vermilion, OH 44089.
