Wanda B. Cummons

Wanda B. Cummons, aged 86, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2015. She was born on November 19, 1928 in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Barberton High School as valedictorian of her class. She attended Kent State University in Ohio and Baptist Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. She married Bruce D. Cummons on August 26, 1947 in Akron. They had 56 happy years together until his death in January 24, 2004. Wanda became a pastor's wife when her husband organized the Massillon Baptist Temple on November 19, 1950, her 22nd birthday. Throughout the 45 years he was the pastor, she served the church as a volunteer in many ways. At various times, she was the pianist, the organist, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader. Junior Choir director, Sociable Sixties director and Ladies Fellowship director. She and her husband traveled to many mission fields and she had the opportunity to visit all fifty states and ten foreign countries She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and half-brother. She is survived by her their daughters, Deborah (Robert) Hayes, Donna (Frank) Perkins and Dorinda (Reed) Rembert, nine grandchildren, Kristy (Mike) Moore, Kimberly Ackley, Kevin (Michele) Fry, Keith (Stacy) Fry, Jeremy (Jamie) McClain, Julie (Rob) Cohn, Melissa (Rick) Schworer, Charity (Craig) Patterson and Heather (Kane) Rigney. Also surviving are 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Funeral services will at the place on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Massillon Baptist Temple. Pastor Cecil Thayer will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
