Walter "Walt" Bartolic, age 76, passed away at his home on October 26, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 15, 1936 to the late Ivan and Diana (Perisich) Bartolic in Massillon. He was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School, where he was a member of the Tiger Swing Band. Walter served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958, and was a member of the Marine Corps Marching Band. He had a lifelong passion for playing and listening to a broad range of music, including Croatian, Dixieland Jazz and Classic Country music. He worked at Diebold for over 35 years until his retirement. Walter was an avid fisherman, loved to read and garden, and was a diehard Massillon Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Amvets Post #6. He will be remembered as "Wafoo", a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who most enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons, Edward (Kim) Bartolic and Raymond (Christy) Bartolic; his grandchildren, Mallory, Emilie, Andrew, Tyler, Jonathan and Gregory; his sister Mary Alpeter; his niece Susan Moore and nephew John (Peggy) Alpeter, as well as a host of lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Antoinette "Toni" Bartolic, and his parents. A funeral service will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memory Gardens following the service.
