Walter H. Lint, age 87 of Massillon, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2010 at AlterCare of Nobles Pond. He was born June 5, 1922 in Navarre to the late Mahlon & Pearl (Whitmer) Lint and lived in the Navarre/Massillon area all of his life. He served as an Army medic in Europe during WW II and received a Purple Heart, European Theater Ribbon with three battle stars, the French Fourragere Citation, the Combat Medical Badge, and the Presidential Unit Citation. He retired as a furnace operator from Republic Steel in 1985. He was devoted family man and a loving grandpa. His leisure time was spent fishing, gardening and working jigsaw puzzles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vedia Lint in 2001; daughter, Vidella Gerber in 2004; grandson, Lyle B. Hensel in 2005; nine sisters and brothers, Fern Kenny, Elsie Smith, Mabel Smith, Stella Kraus, Calvin Lint, Gilbert Lint, Arvine Lint, Earl Lint and Ernest Lint. Walt is survived by a daughter; Deborah & Lyle Hensel of North Canton; son-in-law, David Gerber of Massillon; four grandchildren, Tamara Shannon, Rodney Gerber, Rachael Gerber and Ryan Gerber; five great grandchildren, Nathan, Katilyn, Ashleigh, Morgan & Chase; one sister and three brothers, Jeannie Ormston, Wilbert Lint, Raymond Lint and Donald Lint. Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Rev. Cara Stultz Costello will officiate. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery.
