Virgil Wardell, age 78 of Massillon, died Tuesday at his residence. He was born on April 12, 1928 in Dennison, Ohio and was the son of the late Edward and Della (Heidy) Wardell. He was a resident of Urichsville until moving to Massillon in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the V.F.W. Post 3124. In 1984 he retired from the Enduro Division of Republic Steel. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Wardell, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived his former wife, Arlene Wardell of the home, his daughters, Sandra (Ben) Shue of Massillon and Linda Derr of Indian River, MI, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother Paul Wardell of New Philadelphia and 2 stepdaughters and their children. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Dr, Mark Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
