Virgil L. Strazi

Virgil L.Strazi, age 86 of Jackson Township, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011. He was born on December 26, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio the son of the late Leon and Versabelle (Mickan) Strazi. Virgil was a 1943 graduate of Alliance High School. Upon graduating from High School he enlisted in the Navy Air Corp and served as a flight engineer during WWII. In 1950 he graduated from Mount Union College with a B.A. in Accounting. Virgil worked at Goodyear Aerospace Division in Akron as a project planner retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of First Christian Church in Massillon. He enjoyed bowling with the Massillon Senior League, fishing, boating, gardening and riding his motorcycle. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lynn Strazi and his granddaughter, Jodi Strazi Passerini. He is survived by his wife, Julia (Jorney) Strazi, whom he married on August 17, 1947; his daughters, Linda McGill of Massillon and Janie (Cork) Camereon of Monroe, NC; his grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) McGill McCabe of Massillon, Bryan (Tia) Camereon of Concord, NC and Nick (Heather) Camereon of Indian Trail, NC; his great-grandchildren, Mario and Maddalena Passerini; his sisters, Lynette (Craig) Windland and Frances Fisher both of Alliance and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family burial will be held on Monday. A Celebration of Virgil’s life will be held on Tuesday February 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church- Massillon with Rev. Dr. John F. States officiating. Friends may gather at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church in his name.
