Viola E. Studer

Viola E. Studer age 78 of Massillon, passed away Friday at her residence. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on February 28, 1929 to the late Aaron & Jenny (Shanklin) Shaffer. She spent her early years in Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from Falls High and later attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for a year. She then moved to Massillon where she met and married Dale Studer. She was a member of the Massillon Women’s Club, Massillon Jr. Mrs., Ladies Shrine, Shady Hollow Country Club and two card clubs. She enjoyed boating, fishing and playing cards. She was very active in school functions serving as room mother and den mother for the Boy Scouts. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Geraldine Shaffer and Lillian Pitkin. She is survived by her husband, Dale Studer, with whom she celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage on August 3, 2007; son Randy Studer; grandson Brett Studer; brother and sister-in-law Clarence “Bud” (Jean) Shaffer and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating Viola’s life will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Jeff Sanders officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Interment will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Massillon Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
