Vincenza A. "Verna" Swad

Vincenza A. “Verna” Mazzarella Houck Swad, 100, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Verna was born on June 22, 1921, in Canton, the daughter of Leonardo and Pasquelina (Panella) Mazzarella. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Swad. She is survived by her children, Hala Shearer, Russell (Lisa) Houck, Susan (Larry) Pitts, and Antonio Swad; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and her dear friends, Sheri Mullins and Blayne McVeen. A Celebration of Verna’s life will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6- 8 p.m. and one hour before the service at the church.
