Verdella Baker

Verdella M. Baker, age 86, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2022. She was born in Abbeyville, Alabama, on January 01, 1936. She married Jimmy Baker in 1956 and they were married for 50 years until his passing in 2006. Verdella worked for Food Services at Massillon Community/Affinity Hospital until her retirement. She was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church. Verdella enjoyed cooking, volunteering with the Massillon Community Hospital and spending time with her family. Verdella was a loving person and everyone who knew her loved her in return. She was a giving woman who took care of her family and anyone in need. She will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend She is survived by her son, Keith Baker; her grandson Keith (Erica) Baker II; her extended family that includes Karen, Ashley, and Brandon Johnson; her chosen grandchildren Khalil, Khaliope, Kahalivia, Brandon Jr., and Brock as well as a host of family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Verdella was preceded in death by her daughter Shirley Baker. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 11:00a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 6-8p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Massillon Cemetery.
