Vera (Besancon) Sprinkle, age 93, passed away Friday December 10, 2010 at Affinity Medical Center. She was born on Feb. 14, 1917 to the late Joseph & Ora (Marthey) Besancon. A life resident of Massillon, she was a former employee of Republic Steel. Vera was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. Vera’s life was her family. Her unconditional love and Christian spirit were a true inspiration to all whose lives she touched. She was a devoted wife, an extraordinary mother/grandmother/great gran, a precious sister, a true friend and a truly remarkable woman. She will always be remembered for her sparkling personality, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Sprinkle (2002) and her brother Atlee Besancon. Survivors include her daughters Cynthia Braun of Massillon and Janet (Dr. Ron) Saxen of Canton; eight grandchildren Lisa (Braun) Shanklin, Danielle (Braun) Henderson, Doug Saxen, Kelle (Saxen) Hofner, Rick Saxen, Julie (Saxen) Bouie, Craig Saxen, and Meghan Saxen; seven great grandchildren Danielle Shanklin, Nicholas Shanklin, Maggie Hofner, Allie Hofner, Kate Hofner, Abbie Saxen and Oliver Saxen; sisters Teresa (Besancon) Kiefer & Martha (Besancon) Sibila, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, her pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Joseph or to Catholic Charities.
