Velma F. Ross, age 80, of Massillon passed away Saturday June 6, 2009 at Country Lawn Nursing Home, Navarre. She was born November 4, 1928 in Harrison County, Ohio the daughter of James Stewart and Ophie (Green) Rogers. Velma had been employed as a dietary aid at Hanover House in Massillon. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, AARP, Women of the Moose Massillon Chapter # 32, Eagles Auxiliary #190, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. On January 12, 1968 she married Edgar Omar Ross and he preceded her in death. Velma is survived by brother Robert (Judith) Rogers of Sun City West, AZ; son Charles Wells; two step-children both of Massillon; niece Nancy (Wayne) Fierbaugh of Canton; four step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother George Rogers, sisters Annabelle Young, Edythe Roach, Thurza Galloway, and Laura Wilson. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.at Paquelet Funeral Home 1100 Wales Rd. Massillon followed by funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Tal Lewis of Wildare United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookfield Cemetery. Donations in Velma’s memory may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, or Moose Heart.
