Velma M. Evans, age 89 of Massillon, passed away April 29, 2011 at Affinity Medical Center. She was born May 25, 1921 in Massillon to the late John & Celesta (Hartman) Jordan and lived here all of her life. Velma was employed at the former Deco Tile Co. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo with her friends and tending her flowers. Family and friends will miss her caring ways, always a kind word for everyone and a helpful gesture whenever needed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Eschliman (1970); a sister, Mildred Kula and a great granddaughter, Ashley Poloschan. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Quentin ‘Tom” Evans; two daughters, Bonnie (Joseph) Poloschan of Hanford, CA and Sharon (Donald) Rader of Brewster; sister, Rita (Everett) Himes of Massillon; two grandsons, Todd and Kenny Poloschan and three great granddaughters, Sommer, Kaylie and Chloe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 2:00 PM at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Fr. Thomas Cebula will officiate. Her final resting place will be St. Barbara Cemetery.
