Velma E. Getz

Velma E. Getz, age 88, of Massillon, died Thursday morning, June 5, 2008 at Rose Lane Health Care Center. She was born in Beech Grove, Ohio on December 27, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Jacobs) Bertels. Velma had worked as a nurse's aide at the former Massillon City Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, painting and crocheting. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Laverne Bertels and her sister, Carlene Bertels. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Getz whom she married on July 5, 1950; her sons, Mickey Lee Getz of Wooster and Dennis Scott Getz of Massillon; two grandchildren, Joseph D. Getz and Brandon M. Getz and her sisters, Arlene (Warren) Ritter of Massillon an Lillian (Edward) Ricosky of Canton. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rector Henry Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
