Tyronea M. (Hill) Redrick Knox

Tyronea M. (Hill) Redrick Knox was the second bundle of joy born on July 1, 1944 in Massillon, Ohio to the proud parents of William (RIP) Hill and Charlotte Hill who both preceded her in death, along with her brother William and Douglas Hill and a special, Mary Clark. Tyronea accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church and joined the junior choir under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Sinclair. As an adolescent Tyronea was very athletic, she was featured in the Massillon Newspaper, The Evening Independent, numerous times, highlighting her playground sports tournaments. She was a member of the high school swim team, where they performed aquatic dance numbers. Tyronea was a proud member of the Mademoiselle an elite social club of very close friends, under the leadership of Ms. Matti Brooks, the first African American teacher at Washington High School. Tyronea graduated Washington High School with the class of 1962. Tyronea had a passion for dancing and loved to roller skate at the Pathfinder Roller Rink in Canton, Ohio where she met her first love, Johnnie Lee Redrick. They married and to that union had three children, Darrel, Derrick and Desiree. Tyronea and Johnnie would remain together until his untimely passing. Tyronea’s favorite hobbies included shopping and dressing her best, preparing wonderful meals, talking with friends, enjoying music and movies and most of all, spending time with family. Tyronea’s professional career consisted of working for the Wonder Bread Bakery and the Hoover Company in Canton, Ohio. She was a hard worker and very committed to her jobs. She worked at Renaissance Residential Care and Training Center. She earned her certificate as a CAN and was recognized as one of the best workers for being compassionate to the disabled. Eventually she retired from Ford Motor Company after 20 years of service. Later, she married the beloved Michael A. Knox of Ferndale, Michigan for 36 years before he went to glory in 2016. Tyronea leaves to cherish her memories her children Darrel (Shirley), Derrick and Desiree Redrick of Detroit, MI. A special relationship with her granddaughter, Destinee Vines, Grandsons, Eain Redrick and James Gregory; a great-grandson Dior Vines and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A brother, Tyrone Hill of Massillon, Ohio. Tyronea loved her nieces and nephews, who were very dear to her heart. Four sisters-in-law, special cousins and a host of other relatives and incredibly special friends. The service will be live streamed on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. by clicking the link below.
