Tony “Butch” Samsa, age 88 0f Massillon, died on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Hospitality House in Perry Township. He was born to the late Joseph and Marija (Viront) Samsa in Brewster, Ohio on June 13, 1921. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. He retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad where he had worked as a boilermaker. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Colucy and Josephine Davis and his brothers, Joseph and Peter Samsa. He is survived by his wife, Mildred R. (Yacko) Samsa, whom he married on January 4, 1947, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Laurie Samsa, his grandchildren, Suzanne M. (Mike) Dilts, Anthony C. Samsa and Charles A. Samsa and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. John Telloni officiating. Burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon and on Friday one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made in the name of Tony Samsa to the Massillon Salvation Army or Hospices of Stark, Carroll or Tuscarawas Counties.
