Timothy “Tim” Shanklin, 54, of Massillon, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 16, 1968, in Massillon to Raymond and Gloria (Berg) Shanklin.
He was a 1987 graduate of Jackson High School.
Tim was a self-taught craftsman and his ingenuity, work ethic and skill set seemed endless. He proudly worked as a subcontractor for Weitzel’s Lawn and Landscape for over 30 years. Tim’s talent as a landscape artist could be seen in his outdoor designs of patios and retaining walls to name a few. In the winter months, if you saw a white truck, you would be sure to see Tim behind the wheel, plowing snow.
Regardless of the job, he took great pride in all his work.
Tim’s greatest accomplishment was his family. The best thing he gave to them was the time they spent together. They shared many camping and canoeing trips to Mohican, pool parties to celebrate any and every occasion, especially 4th of July, family game and movie nights, softball tournaments, and Sundays were of course, always reserved for football, but more importantly, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Chevonne Duncan; his mother Gloria “Doie” Shanklin; his children Danielle (Jaszell Simeton) Shanklin, Nicholas (Jessie Nicola) Shanklin, Derek Shanklin, and Carli Shanklin; grandchildren, Zayn and Jada Simeton; Sisters Lori (George Hardesty) Norcia and Debbie (Greg Tobin) Shanklin; father-in-law, Bill Duncan and mother-in-law Terri Turkalj; brother-in-law, Ryan Duncan; and his beloved German Shepherds.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Shanklin.
To honor Tim and his love for football, the family will receive friends on Super Bowl Sunday, February 12th from 10am-12pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A service celebrating his life will follow at 12 p.m.
The family also asks that anyone attending to wear their favorite sports team attire.
