Timothy “Tim” K. Lunkwitz, age 68 of Perry Twp. passed away on August 24, 2018, with his entire loving family at his side. He was born on March 8, 1950 to Barbara (Corrigan) and the late Max Lunkwitz. He was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School, where he was a proud Massillon Tiger, who played on the Football and Baseball Teams. He attended Kent State University and Akron University. He married Laurie Zliczewski on October 13, 1984 and they shared 34 wonderful years together. Tim worked as a machinist for Republic Steel until his retirement. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1124 and actively involved in advocating for his union brothers and sisters with their Workers Compensation claims. He was a trustee with the Hall of Fame Central Labor Council. He was a strong Democrat, political activist and campaigned during many elections. He enjoyed High School Football, sports, playing tennis, fishing, live music and gardening. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Laurie; his children Kurt Lunkwitz and Emily Lunkwitz; his grandson Noah Hitchings; his mother Barbara Heitger; his sisters Diane (Dan) and Linda; his nephew Chris and niece Paula and a host of cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 5-8p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, specifically to research for Glioblastoma (GBM)- https://www.abta.org/tumor_types/glioblastoma-gbm/ The family would like to thank Dr. Manmeet Ahluwalia and nurses Mary Murphy and Kaitlyn Huddleston of the Cleveland Clinic for Tim’s exceptional care during his illness.
