Thurman Miller, age 89 of Canton, passed away on June 08, 2018 at the Canton Christian Home, surrounded by his loving family. Thurman was born on October 17, 1928 in Rochester PA to the late Charles and Josephine Miller. He graduated from Shenango High School in New Castle, PA. He married Valerie Moran on April 28, 1951 and they shared 67 wonderful years until his passing. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sargent in the Military Police during the Korean Conflict. Thurman formerly worked for Bloom & Klein as their Warehouse Manager for over 25 years when the family moved to Greenville, South Carolina and he worked for Carter & Crawley for over 10 years until his retirement. Thurman was a 50 year member of Trinity Masonic Lodge #710, Valley of Canton Scottish Rite and Tadmore Shrine. He was a Past Monarch of Nazir Grotto. He loved to bowl, play golf, watching sporting events, but most importantly doing things with his family. He was a member of the Church of the Lakes. He is survived by his beloved wife Valerie, who will miss him terribly; his son Tim; his daughters Debbie (Jack) Blakney and Pamela (Dale) Woodruff, his grandchildren Meagan (Brian) Cook, Jonathan (Penny) Moore and Cory Woodruff; his great-grandchildren Ethan and Quinn Moore; his brother Berkley (Corrine) Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Thurman was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary Lou Roth A Celebration of Thurman’s life will be held at The Church of the Lakes at 5944 Fulton Drive N.W., Canton, OH 44718 on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 12 noon. Pastor Bryan George will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10a.m. until the time of the service. A Masonic Service will be held at 9:30a.m. Interment at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Donations in Thurman’s memory can be made to the Canton Christian Home Benevolence Fund.
