Thurman Joe Rigg Scholey 72 of Brewster passed away Friday morning at Aultman Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 13, 1933 in Massillon to the late Joe Thurman and Florence (Harris) Scholey. He was honorably discharged from the Army having served during the Koren Conflict and served with the 101 airborne division. He retired in 1991 as a railroad conductor and then became a self employed auctioneer/realtor. He was a past president of the Brewster Sugarcreek Township Historical Society, Brewster Fire Department Auxiliary, Hillbilly Choppers, PFC Lamont Hill Memorial Garrison, Cathedral of Life. He was preceded in death by parents, brother, Delmar Johnson; sister, Ruth Eberly and Evelyn Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hoffman) Scholey of 46 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon & Perry Davis of Beach City, Peggy & Randy Morris of Georgia, Kelley Winland of Beach City; son and daughter-in-law, Joe & Amy Scholey of Brewster; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Sue Johnson of Canton. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Dr. Gamble officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Final resting place will be in Welty Cemetery.
