Thomas William Kimmins, Sr.

March 18, 1935 — April 15, 2016

Thomas W. Kimmins, Sr., 81 of Navarre, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016. Tom was born on March 18, 1935 in Massillon, the son of Thomas W. and Mary R. (Romer) Kimmins. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a United States Army veteran. Following his graduation from Washington High School in 1953 he went to the College of Wooster where he received his BA degree and then to Kent State University for his MBA. He received his law degree from the University of Akron. Tom was active for many years in the Massillon community: past president of the Chamber of Commerce, past president of Massillon Rotary, Massillon School Board, City Councilman, Massillon Main Street, Downtown Massillon Association, and the Stark County Bar Association. Before retiring he was the longest serving active attorney in Stark County. Tom played football for Washington High School and the College of Wooster. Tom was an avid trap shooter and outdoorsman. He also enjoyed square dancing and line dancing. Tom and his wife Irene loved to travel. He was also a member of RiverTree Christian Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou Kimmins. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Armstrong) Kimmins, whom he married on August 1, 1959; children and their spouses, Mary Lou (Marshall) Weinberg, Thomas W. (Anne) Kimmins, Jr. and Patty Kimmins; and grandchildren, Abigail and Ethan Weinberg, Thomas W. Kimmins III, Tyler J., and Tanner J. Kimmins. A Celebration of Tom's life will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4- 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either: Massillon Washington High School Alumni Scholarship Fund or Sunshine Children's Home, Maumee, Ohio.
