Thomas Nicholas Berbari Jr. age 72 passed away April 2, 2019. Tommy was born November 29, 1946 to the late Thomas and Geraline (Clark) Berbari Sr. He was a graduate of Washington High School and the proprietor of Tommy B’s Diamond Nite Club. Usually called T-Bird or Tommy B, he was best known for his sense of humor and quick wit. Tommy was an avid softball player back in the day. His favorite place to be was at the pitcher’s mound at the Agathon and later Genshaft. His jersey number was always #7. He was so proud when his first grandson not only inherited his passion for the game, but played his successful, high school ball career with the number 7. Years later, his second grandson was handed a jersey with the number 7 on it when he started t-ball. He is also known for being a long-time pool player. He has played in several leagues and even started a league of his own. His love of pool carried over to his family, as well, and has enjoyed playing pool the last several years, with his son-in-law, his grandson and his “nephews.” Tommy’s social life included hanging at his night club with friends and visiting other establishments. When you saw him, he always had a CC and water in one hand, a smile on his face and everyone around him was laughing. At home, Tommy enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns with his dogs and cat curled up next to him. He enjoyed family dinners, cooked by his son, with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He always joked that he was the luckiest man in Massillon because he always had a young, beautiful girl by his side. Most just didn’t realize it was one of his granddaughters or his special niece. Tommy has been referenced by many as a Massillon icon. He will forever be missed and never forgotten by so many people. He is survived by his two children: Brian Berbari and Deanna (Ben) Baughman. There are four grandchildren: Nicholas, Briana, Jessica and Jaxon and three great granddaughters; a sister and brother, Lori Stolte and Michael Berbari. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by a brother James Shaefer. Friends may call Saturday, April 6 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home; Fr. Thomas Bishop will have a service for Tommy at 2:30.
