Thomas Lee Schlegel

Thomas “Tom” L. Schlegel, age 82, of Massillon, passed away on August 13, 2017. He was born in Canton, OH, on May 21, 1935 to the late Floyd and Ruth (Link) Schlegel. He was a 1953 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. He married Virginia Ann Strider on April 27, 1957, recently celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Tom worked for The Belden Brick Company for 42 years, retiring as Director of Marketing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, The Ohio State Buckeyes, The Massillon Tigers (Over 50 year season ticket holders), The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. Tom also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He is survived by his wife Virginia; his children Cindy L. (Mark) Hickey, James T. (Barb) Schlegel, Jon D. Schlegel and Ann M.(Rick) Laase; his grandchildren Elise Laase, Ryan D.(Danielle) Hickey, Meghan L. Hickey, Eric (Layne) Laase, Trevor Laase and Jason (Brit) Miller; his great-grandchildren Paige, J.J., Trey, Jaxson Miller and Carson Hickey; his brother Dennis (Linda) Schlegel; his sister Rebecca Schlegel and a host of nieces,nephews and friends.
