Thomas Henry Cooney Sr.

Thomas H. Cooney, age 88, passed away on July 01, 2015. He was born in Fairview Park, Ohio on August 28, 1926 to the late Raymond and Sarah Cooney. He married Mary A. Winder on June 20, 1953 and they shared 62 years together until his passing. He served his country as a Sergeant in the 740th Tank Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as an accountant for Hoover for 24 years until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with his family. His unique sense of humor will be sorely missed. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Cynthia (Bob) Bruce, Thomas (Christine) Cooney Jr., Gary (Rhonda) Cooney, Jeffery (Dora) Cooney, and Bruce (Renee) Cooney; his grandchildren Makayla, Tiffany, Stephanie, Kelly, Lindsay, Nicole, Marissa, Lauren, Cara, Jeffery, Dean, Hayley, and Camryn; 6 great-grandchildren Zoe, Max, Abe, Colin, Trevor and Cora, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 06, 2015 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, OH 44685 at 11 am. Father David Durkee will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet Funeral Home – Massillon on Sunday, July 05, 2015 from 5-8 pm. Interment at Northlawn Cemetery.
