On February 24, 2021 at 03:50 a.m., Thomas C. Young passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on August 1, 1951 in East Cleveland, Ohio to Dallas and Marian Young. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1970. He served in the United States Marine Corp during Vietnam until 1976, he was a Corporal and served in the First Battalion, Third Recon Division. He enjoyed fixing things and was considered a “jack of all trades.” He liked building and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a peace-keeper, story-teller, and had an amazing sense of humor. He was bus driver for Nyce tours and Candle Coach and retired as the head of maintenance from Canton City Schools. He was known to many as “Uncle Tom.” He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Harold Sullivan, sister, Marti Gainey, and brother-in-law, Jack Gainey. Thomas is survived by his children, Anthony T. Young, Rachel (Mark Coffey) E. Young, grandchildren, Blaze, Desirae, Anna, and Richard A. Young, niece and nephew, Jennifer Harp, Michael (Jennifer) Gainey, great nieces and great nephew, Shelby (Bryce) Mohn, Amanda Gainey, Emily Gainey, and Cody Harp, and best friend, Rebecca Young. Friends and family may come to call on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 44 at 1633 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, Ohio 44703. Continuing with COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol and masks are required.
