Theresa R. Mclaughlin

Theresa R. McLaughlin, age 85, of Canal Fulton, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013. Theresa was born on March 27, 1928 in Massillon the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Skirtech. She was very proud of her Croation upbringing. Theresa was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1946 graduate of Mount Marie Academy, now Central Catholic. Following her graduation from Mount Marie she went on to attend Mercy School of Nursing where she received her Diploma as an R.N. Theresa worked as an R.N. for Dr. Kling, and in private duty nursing service. She enjoyed swimming and walking with her friends at the Y.M.C.A. and participated in a number of other sports and activities throughout her life. She was very devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. Theresa was a member of Saints Philip and James Catholic Church in Canal Fulton where she was involved in the Alter and Rosary Society as well as the Bereavement Ministry. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William F. McLaughlin in 1999; her infant brothers, Peter and Joey Skirtech, Dan and Thomas Skirtech; and her sisters, Barbara Weber, Mary Hout and Alice Skirtech. She leaves to cherish her memory her children and their spouses, Bernadette (Michael) Sirgo of Hilton Head, SC, Colleen (Dennis) Kelliher of Uniontown, OH and Shawn (Wendy) McLaughlin of Philadephia, PA; her grandchildren Paulina, Luke and Liam Sirgo, Drew and Khristina McLaughlin and John 'Jack' and Shane Kelliher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin McCaffery will be Officiating. Her final resting place will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Massillon.
