Theodore “Ted” Wellman, age 77 of Canton, passed away April 2, 2018. Born on July 29, 1940, to the late Henry and Barbara (Yelichek) Wellman. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and retired from Canton Truck Sales after 40 years of service. He was an Army Veteran who served from 1961-1964. He was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles of Massillon, and the Canton McKinley Pistol & Riffle Club. He was a charter member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church where he sang in the choir for over 40 years. He was a coach for the 5/6th grade football team for SJA School. He was an avid boater, hunter, fisherman and target shooter. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 55 years; daughters Mary (Mike) Gabriel, Cathy Wellman; sons Theodore (Tracia), Thomas (Kristin), Joseph (Lisa), and John (Tammy); 10 grandchildren; sisters Barbara Ferrero, Joan (Mark) Boron, Elaine (Paul) Arnold, and Margaret Kracker; brothers Bill (Tessa) and Michael (Sue); sister-in-law Mary (Herb) Seifert and Cheryl Fischer; brother-in-law Frank (Eileen) Fischer; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospital, Altercare of Nobles Pond, and the caregivers at Crossroads Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joan of Arc Building Fund. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 7, 2018, at 1pm in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Calling hours will also be on April 7, 2018, from 10-12 in the Paquelet Funeral Home.
