Theodore R. Summer Jr., Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend of many, left his home in Carrollton, Ohio to be with the Lord on August 4, 2012. He was a hardworking, honest and caring man who loved his family and his life. Born on August 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Theodore R. Summer and Nina Merryman. Ted worked more than twenty-five years for the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a quality Inspector. He was probably best known for his ability to work with his hands and all types of equipment. His hobbies included restoring cars, and building and flying experimental aircraft such as gyrocopters and powered kites. He also constructed several of the homes he lived in, including a beautiful log cabin on his farm in Carrollton. He had a love for animals, which led him to his greatest passion, raising white tail deer, which he did for almost forty years. He was an active member of the Ohio Farm Bureau, National Rifle Association, Loyal Order of Moose, and Experimental Aircraft Association. Ted is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kazuko Summer, his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robert Ballinger, his grandchildren Jessica and Gregory Ballinger, his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Neal Perkins, as well as other family members. He loved his grandchildren very much, and was very supportive and proud of their accomplishments. A memorial service, a celebration of his life, will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 4:00 PM at the Carrollton Bible Chapel, 365 Steubenville Rd. SE, Carrollton, OH 44615. Contributions in Ted's memory may be made to the Carrollton Bible Chapel.
