Theodore Charles Sima

November 20, 1945 — April 26, 2012

Theodore "Ted" Charles Sima, 66 passed away on April 26, 2012. He was born in on November 20, 1945 to the late Theodore Sima Jr. and Mary (Marginean) Sima. He was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School. He married Jane Kathryn Emery on July 18, 1970 and she survives. Ted was a graduate of Kent State University. He was a Social Studies Teacher for the Tuscarawas Valley Schools for 26 years, where he also served as the Assistant Athletic Director and Jr. Varsity Baseball Coach. Ted was an avid boater, a diehard Massillon football fan. He was a professional drummer, and enjoyed his Jazz music. When you think of Ted you think of a keen sense of humor, making comedic light of any situation. No matter what life threw at him, he kept us laughing, and taught us all about toughness, tenderness and humanity. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Amy (Daryl) Dirham, and Ted P. Sima; 2 sisters, Ann Marie Hank, and Dian Upshaw and one brother Wesley (Renee) Sima. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two brothers-in-law, Carl Upshaw, and Emil Hank. A Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Massillon, on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 10 A.M. Father Edward Gretchko will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 5 until 8 P.M. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens folloing the church service.
