Thelma Davis

Mrs. Thelma J. Davis, 88 of Massillon, OH departed this life on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 after a period of illness. She was born August 14, 1922 in Massillon, OH, to the late Boston “B.J.” Johnson and Addie( Buxton) Johnson. She attended Washington High School. Thelma worked for over 30 years as a Therapedic Aide for Aultman Hospital and the former Massillon State Hospital, retiring in 1987. She became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age, and served faithfully as President of the Missionary Society for several years and was a Deaconess. She is preceded in death by her parents, Boston and Addie (Buxton) Johnson, her former husband of 30 years, L.V. “Levy” White, two sisters ,Vera Johnson and Inez Toles and one granddaughter Valerie Stephens. She leaves her present husband of 29 years, Mr. Harold J. Davis of Alliance, OH. Thelma leaves to cherish her memory one son, Leroy White (Joanne) of Massillon, OH, two daughters, Donna Stephens of Canton, OH, and Dr. Peggy Honaker (Herman) of Fairlawn, OH, one step-son Harold Davis Jr., two devoted nieces, Wanda Frazier of Edina, MN, and Lorraine Page of Riverdale, GA. She has 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church 1111 3rd St SE Massillon, OH 44646 on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Calling hours will be from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service.
