Terry L. Snyder, 64, of Massillon, passed away on January 19, 2024, at Smithville Western Hospice Care Center. He was born on September 4, 1959, in Wooster, Ohio, to the late Verl and Patsy (Searles) Snyder.
Terry was a hard worker throughout his life. He worked in carpentry, applied home siding and other construction projects before retiring.
He was a gifted musician, skilled with multiple instruments and played music for over 40 years. During that time, he had formed two bands, Buck Shot and Bad Habit, that played together for many years.
His love for music was a way Terry gave back to others. He played music at benefits that helped raise money or awareness for a specific cause. This was a tradition that began with his father and brother-in-law, George, that Terry proudly continued.
Terry was also a dedicated NASCAR and Kyle Larson fan. This was a passion he shared with his sister Mary Anne. The two of them would call each other multiple times throughout the race to talk about or celebrate things that happened.
His love for racing started at a young age when he raced go-karts, building most of them himself.
He also previously enjoyed hunting when visiting his sister Cheryl and brother-in-law Robert in West Virginia.
And his sister Beverly kept her promise to him to the very end to be by his side no matter what. She was always a phone call away and would take care of any needs or wants that Terry had. Even bringing him his favorite candy.
Terry’s generosity, giving spirit and work ethic are just some of his notable traits that will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Cheryl (Robert) Lint, Mary Anne (Josè) Martinez and Beverly (George) Sark; as well as his son, Nicholas (Joyce) Snyder.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Snyder.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 5-6 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
A service will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Gary Mclaughlin, who was not only a longtime friend of Terry’s, but was also his loving and supportive step-son.
In honor of Terry, if attending services, please wear casual attire or your favorite NASCAR shirt.
