Terence Lamont Carter, affectionately known as “TC” was born in Akron, Ohio on February 9, 1956 to the union of Joseph Austin and Lena Mae Carter. TC received Jesus Christ in his life at an early age and practiced his Christian “Kingdom Citizenship” throughout his life.
TC grew up in Massillon, Ohio where he attended York, Lorin Andrews and graduated from Washington High School, the class of 1974. While in High School his extra curriculum activities included being a football manager. He always wanted to be an electrician and received his electrical engineering degree in 1993 from Stark State Technical College.
TC started his work career at the Enduro Division of Republic Steel, where he labored for 20 years only missing one day. He started work at Rittman Paper Board as a line packer, ending his 17 year tenure there as an Industrial Electrician. His work as a Union Committee man at Rittman was legendary, the industrial reps respected his tenacity for the most minute details in his cases and briefs.
He retired in 2022 after 13 years and 1 month at Crown Cork and Seal, where he developed a system for rehabbing a certain computerized gun that saved the company thousands of dollars. His work motto was “Trust but verify”.
TC loved God, he believed in the atoning work of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was filled with the Holy Spirit. He was an avid reader of the Bible. He taught the Adult Sunday School class, the New Member Class and had served as an Usher at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member for over 60 years.
TC enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He and his sister, Chris, had a special bond and in their early years were nicknamed “Frank & Jesse James”. TC was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, and confidant. His presence will be missed.
TC was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Karlyn of 44 years; his son, Ja’Kaar; sisters, Christina Carter, Bonnie Gilmer, Tammy (Hollis) Alexander, and Tanya Gamble; sister’s-in-law, Beatrice Johnson and Hursha Medley; brother-in-law, Terrance Causey; special nephew, James (Donna) Johnson; uncles, Abron Carter, King Soloman Brooks; special cousins, Abron Carter, Jr., and Pete Butcher; best friends, Kevin Andrews, Kevin Elliott Sr., Deboy Beamon, Dave Stanton, and the men of “Image Bearers” and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
