Summer Rae Rowley, age 36, passed away on December 10th, 2021. Summer was a free spirited soul who will be missed in countless ways by her family and friends. Summer loved her family fiercely, especially her daughter Ellie. She was very strong-willed and said she was raising her daughter to be strong just like her Mom taught her to be strong. She worried about her grandparents and would often cook meals for them and help around the house. Summer was loved for her impish grin and silly sense of humor. She had a raspy voice which she did not like but was often complimented on. Summer loved to cook and was very creative. Her meat loaf was “the bomb” and she would make enough to share with an army. Summer loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with her family and didn’t know what “keep it simple” meant. Summer was usually late to any event and one time showed up over two hours late with a turkey on Thanksgiving. She often tried to get a family photo. This was a very difficult task but she never gave up. She loved giving gifts, sometimes just because, and she also enjoyed putting you on a scavenger hunt to find them. She was also known to hide a note in your glove compartment just to show she was thinking of you. Summer loved food and her favorite foods were pickles and prime rib. She was very handy and could fix anything around the house. She loved animals and her two dogs “Izzy and Hope”, her cat “Sassy” and guinea pig “Acorn” will miss her dearly. Summer leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Ellie; mother Wendy Ertle Rowley; her brother Ross Rowley; her grandparents Gary and Kathy Ertle; her aunts Debi DiLoreto; Heather Ertle (Vicki Hoffman); and her uncle Kenny Ertle; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her special Great Grandma Ertle; her dear friend Ralph Geiger who was a father figure to her; and her beloved dog Fritz. A celebration of Summer’s life will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Friday, December 17th, 2021 at 7pm. Pastor Pam Smith will be officiating. Family will receive friends from 5pm to the time of the service. Cremation has taken place per Summer’s wishes. Burial will be at Brookfield Cemetery in Massillon at a later date.
