A special request from Samar’s Family is that NO “R.I.P. T-SHIRTS” be worn to the services but, instead can be worn at the repass only.* He was preceded in death by his grandfather James E. Smith Sr. Steven Samar Rogers, 28, of Canton, sadly and unexpectedly was taken away from his beloved family and friends on February 3, 2021. He was born on March 17, 1992 in Massillon to Tanisha Thompson and J-Saun Rogers. Sav was an incredibly devoted dad to his son Kardion Michael Samar Rogers who called him, “Daddy Dude.” He was also a loving son, wonderful uncle and brother who was so full of love and laughter. He proudly had the title “Head of the Family” which he took very seriously, especially when it came to his sisters and brothers, they knew he would always be their protector. Not only did he look out for his siblings, he was also a great coach when it came to helping his nephews with football. Sav’s friends knew him as a rapper and “The Life of the Party” and could always count on him to have their backs. He was a one of a kind person who truly loved his family and friends. He will forever be missed by all that knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved mother, Tanisha Thompson and his father, J-Saun Rogers; his son and entire world, Kardion Rogers; his loving girlfriend, Kaitlin Amos; the mother of his child, Maliyah Chance; his siblings, Talesha (Terry Witts) Thompson, Ebonee Hall, Maurice (Tazanay Baylock) Horner II, twins, Darshon Rogers and J-Saun Rogers, Syrennity Rogers and Syncyeire Rogers; his grandparents, Dennả Smith, Robert (Tina) Rogers, and Deitra Byrd Rogers; Aunts, Marla (Orlando) Smith and Tracy Rogers; Uncles, James E. (Carrie) Smith, Jr., Kijana Rogers, Jameel Ali and Tyronne Fredrick Barker; his nieces and nephews who he loved endlessly, Alexis, Jae’Meir, Sloan, Antejuan (Boosie), Porter Blaze, Londen, Mo’Nae, and Tegan; as well as a host of many other family members, cousins and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Jackson-Phillip’s Family during this difficult time. A Home Going Service for Samar will be held on Saturday, February 13th at 1 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Family and Friends may come from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
