Stephen A. Zehnder, 73, of Canton, passed away on April 11, 2025, following a 7 year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on April 10, 1952 to the late John and Maxine (Risher) Zehnder in Millersburg, OH.
He was a 1970 graduate of North Canton Hoover High School. Steve served for 21 years and retired from the United States Army, 762nd Transportation Unit. Steve also retired from Mercy Medical Center after 40 years of service. He founded Chubby's Treats and served Jackson Twp. for 31 years, with his family. Steve was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, North Canton. Steve loved and adored his family, dedicating his time to all their activities. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, boating, skiing, traveling, grilling, and spending time with life long friends.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Cherrie (Wingerter) Zehnder; their children, Holly (Marcus) Lewis and Stephen (Melanie) Zehnder; grandchildren, Matthew (McKenna) Zehnder, Brian (Megan) Zehnder, Anna Zehnder, Emalee Zehnder, and Alexis Lewis; great-grandson, Brooks Zehnder; siblings, Sandra Weitzel, Kathleen (Stan) Kashuba, and Michael (Maria) Zehnder; brother-in-law, Charles (Rhonda) Wingerter; his dog, Stella; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy Cary, John "Sonny" Zehnder, and Randall Zehnder.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio. Steve was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, so the family request you wear your favorite Ohio State gear to calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, 10:00 am at the St. Paul's Catholic Church, Canton, Ohio.
