Stephen Gary Weaver

Stephen Gary Weaver, 61, passed away November 3, 2016, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Steve was born in Dayton, OH, on November 10, 1954. He was loving husband to Pamela (Blankenship) Weaver and on November 25, they would have celebrated 41 years of wedded bliss. Steve was also a proud father of two children, Rachel (Chris) Seymour and Andrew (Kristen) Weaver. He had five grandchildren (Austin, Evan, Elliana, Owen, and Malachi) that could light up his day regardless of how he was feeling while fighting his courageous battle. Steve played football at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and was always proud of the Herd. We Are…Marshall! After college, Steve was recruited to work at Republic Steel in Canton where he was employed for almost 20 years. After a couple of short stints at other steel companies, Steve landed his dream job at Maxion Wheels in Akron. He was always a hard worker and very rarely missed work prior to his illness. He loved to travel, especially out west with his family, and he has been to several national parks including Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Glacier. Steve loved to be outdoors, whether it was fishing on his boat with his son, or catching softball pitches from his daughter. He was a family-first husband, father, and Papa, and that is something he has passed on to many around him. One thing that everyone knew about Steve was his passionate love for God and his desire to follow Him daily. Steve would read his Bible every day, and spend time in prayer on his way to work early in the morning. His loving spirit reached far beyond himself, as Steve was a "Big Brother" in the Big Brother/Big Sister program. He tried his best to be a Christ-like example to everyone around him. Steve is survived by his wife, Pam, his children Rachel and Andrew, his five grandchildren, parents, Norman and Bobbie Weaver, his brother Jim (Janice) Weaver, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother Paul. In lieu of flowers, Steve's request would be that people attend church this Sunday and make a donation to the church to help spread God's love. Donations may also be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Dean and Janice Reed at the Cleveland Clinic for the extraordinary care that Steve received. The family will receive visitors at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 3 to 6 pm. A memorial service celebrating Steve's life will follow at 6 pm. According to Steve's wishes, he has been cremated.
