Stella Matie

Stella (Rubinic) Matie, age 99 of Massillon, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her home. She was born on January 21, 1913 in Mammoth, PA and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth (Shilobod) Rubinic. She was an area resident since 1935. Stella was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Matie; sons, Daniel and Alex; daughter, Clara; her sisters, Ann and Katie; brothers, Vincent and John Slujnski and grandchildren, Phillip, Vincent and Steven. She is survived by her sons, Alexander (Theresa) Matie, Phillip (Rose) Matie, George (Judi DeGordon) Matie and John Matie; her sister, Caroline Radakovich, her brother-in-law, Bob McGill, her granddaughter Phyllis who took awesome care of her and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Fr. Edward Gretchko will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
