Sophia J. Conley Kretzinger, age 91 of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Velma Cooper in Canton. She was born on February 6, 1917 in Pipe Creek, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Smith. She retired from MCA Sign in 1982 following 32 years of service. She was a member of Anchor Baptist Church. She loved God and her family. She enjoyed birds, travelling and gardening. She was well known for her gifts of flowers that she had grown. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, R. Vernon Conley, her second husband, Myron Mike Kretzinger, her son Robert V. Conley, Jr., her grandson Larry L. Cooper II, her stepdaughter Nancy Lindig and her sisters, Jeannette Bertha and Mildred Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Velma Cooper of Canton, Kathleen (Bill) Mossor of Massillon and Linda (Tim) Gatrell of Canton, her stepchildren Dennis & Michael Kretzinger of North Carolina and Melody Kretzinger of Alabama. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Stephanie (Cooper) Jacobs of Arizona, Cheryl (Cooper) McKenna of California, Kevin Cooper of Canton, Karen (Summers) Luyster of Massillon, Connie (Summers) Palmer of Massillon, Paul Summers of Dalton, Nicole (Gatrell) Samson of Colorado and Steven Gatrell of Massillon, her great grandchildren, Krista (Luyster) McCullough of Massillon, Zachary Young working in the Middle East, Amanda & Brandon Palmer of Massillon, Corey & Cameron Finnegan of Canton, Paige & Eric Summers of Dalton, Leif & London Samson of Colorado and Tyler & McKenzie Jacobs of Arizona, 2 great great grandchildren, Nathan McCullough & Chase Finnegan, her sisters, Mary Lawrence of Massillon, Wanda Bates of New York, Anna Myers of Kansas and her brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Smith of Massillon and Ralph (Evelyn) Smith of West Virginia. A service to celebrate the life of Sophia Kretzinger will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Anchor Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Weirich officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday one hour before the service at church.
