Sonja Lea (Brown) Johnson, age 52 of Massillon, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, PA. Sonja was born on September 15, 1959 in Massillon the daughter of Johnnie Lee Brown and Liley (Oliver) Kelly. She lived in the area her entire life and was a 1977 graduate of Washington High School and attended Kent State University. She was employed for 25 years by the State of Ohio at Apple Creek and Warrensville Developmental Center as a Therapeutic Worker. Sonja was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She loved collecting dolls, knitting, crocheting, and her dogs. She was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband, Banks Johnson; her children, Micheaux Keller, and Micah Brown; her grandchildren, Jaieon and Tasharra; her mother, Liley Kelly; her sister, Vivian Brown-Moore; her aunts, Geraldine (Midloskia) Fite, and Mildred Turpin; her uncles, Robert (Carolyn) Oliver and Kenneth Oliver; her great-uncles, David and Thomas Cargill Sr. and Eugene Gilmer and her nephew, Tahshon Brown-Moore. The family would like to thank the staff at The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia, PA. A Home Going Celebration will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Friendship Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Reginald J. Hye officiating.
